Jackson River Float

Floated the very controversial Jackson River Saturday with a friend of mine and his son.  Couldn't of asked for a better day weather wise, 78 degrees and partly cloudy.  With all the rain Virginia has received, the Jackson River was about the only river in Virginia that was worth fishing.  They were generating so we chucked streamers the whole time.  White was the only color we had action on.  Nothing to write home about, but it was fun day and catching trout on streamers sure beats catching them on nymphs.

Olive streamers got no lovin from the trout.

Ignore the stupid look on my face. haha

Fired up the grill for some steaks.

Cliff Bugger Beast boxes make for good backup plates.

My friend's sons first trout ever.

Dave's big trout of the trip.

Fall fish got some love too.

It was a nice float with some good trout caught.  Thanks for reading.

Finally am able to land one.

So I've broken off two bass that were over 8 lbs and lost a handful that were 5 lbs over the last month.  Some of it was me not retying knots after a while, some of it was trout hook sets, and others were just plan bad luck.  Well yesterday I finally hooked and landed a bigger fish.

Past couple pond outings.

All I've had time for lately is some pond fishing.  I've been missing my trout and hopefully the small hiatus changes tomorrow (fingers crossed).  Pond fishing has been good to me though.  I have hooked and fought two bass that were over 8 pounds so far on a cicada pattern.  One came off when I was bending over to grab it and the other broke off after a couple minute fight.  Have been landing some nicer quality fish though the past couple days.

Thanks for reading and hopefully there will be trout on this blog in the near future.

Musky Tying

I've had musky on my mind the past week so I decided to mess around on the vise.  Good way to take a brake from school work, especially since I haven't been to a river or stream since early May.
