Fall is officially here. To me this means apple pie, pumpkin pie, aggressive musky, apple picking, and colored up brookies. What better way to welcome fall than a homemade apple pie.
Also I've been messing around with some dries. It is a beetle pattern I guess, but had lots of luck with this fly when some black stoneflys were coming off the water. Brook trout aren't really known for being picky eaters, so one of my requirements for a brookie dry fly is it has to be about bomb proof. This fly is a size 16 with spin and trimmed buck hair for the body, with foam pulled over the top, and a calf tail wing. Simple, but floats like a cork even after a couple dozen brookies.
Thanks for reading.
